The Village of Howard hosts a community garden on the Fire Station #2 property on Shawano Avenue at Milltown Road. The garden was reconfigured for the 2020 gardening season and now features six plots that are 20'x40' in size and nine larger plots that are 40'x40' in size. The 20'x40' plots are just $20 for the season, and the 40'x40' sites cost $40 each. Water is available on the site free of charge, and gardeners are able to connect their own hoses or fill their own buckets to use it.
The garden season runs May 1 through Nov. 1. Returning gardeners may reserve their same plots beginning April 1 of each year. Other gardeners who are Howard residents may reserve one plot beginning April 15. Remaining plots are available after May 1 for non-residents and those who desire multiple plots.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, registration forms and payments may be mailed to Howard Village Hall, 2456 Glendale Ave., Howard, WI 54313 or dropped in the outside drop box. Plots are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis by return of the signed paperwork and fee. Please refer to the map in the Community Garden Information Packet and list your preference of the available plots.
